1 Samuel 7

7:1 Lalu orang-orang Kiryat-Yearim datang, mereka mengangkut tabut TUHAN itu dan membawanya ke dalam rumah Abinadab yang di atas bukit. Dan Eleazar, anaknya, mereka kuduskan untuk menjaga tabut TUHAN itu. Orang Filistin terpukul kalah dekat Mizpa 7:2 Sejak saat tabut itu tinggal di Kiryat-Yearim berlalulah waktu yang cukup lama, yakni dua puluh tahun, dan seluruh kaum Israel mengeluh kepada TUHAN. 7:3 Lalu berkatalah Samuel kepada seluruh kaum Israel demikian: "Jika kamu berbalik kepada TUHAN dengan segenap hati, maka jauhkanlah para allah asing dan para Asytoret dari tengah-tengahmu dan tujukan hatimu kepada TUHAN dan beribadahlah hanya kepada-Nya; maka Ia akan melepaskan kamu dari tangan orang Filistin." 7:4 Kemudian orang-orang Israel menjauhkan para Baal dan para Asytoret dan beribadah hanya kepada TUHAN. 7:5 Lalu berkatalah Samuel: "Kumpulkanlah segenap orang Israel ke Mizpa; maka aku akan berdoa untuk kamu kepada TUHAN." 7:6 Setelah berkumpul di Mizpa, mereka menimba air dan mencurahkannya di hadapan TUHAN. Mereka juga berpuasa pada hari itu dan berkata di sana: "Kami telah berdosa kepada TUHAN." Dan Samuel menghakimi orang Israel di Mizpa. 7:7 Ketika didengar orang Filistin, bahwa orang Israel telah berkumpul di Mizpa, majulah raja-raja kota orang Filistin mendatangi orang Israel. Serta didengar orang Israel demikian, maka ketakutanlah mereka terhadap orang Filistin. 7:8 Lalu kata orang Israel kepada Samuel: "Janganlah berhenti berseru bagi kami kepada TUHAN, Allah kita, supaya Ia menyelamatkan kami dari tangan orang Filistin itu." 7:9 Sesudah itu Samuel mengambil seekor anak domba yang menyusu, lalu mempersembahkan seluruhnya kepada TUHAN sebagai korban bakaran. Dan ketika Samuel berseru kepada TUHAN bagi orang Israel, maka TUHAN menjawab dia. 7:10 Sedang Samuel mempersembahkan korban bakaran itu, majulah orang Filistin berperang melawan orang Israel. Tetapi pada hari itu TUHAN mengguntur dengan bunyi yang hebat ke atas orang Filistin dan mengacaukan mereka, sehingga mereka terpukul kalah oleh orang Israel. 7:11 Keluarlah orang-orang Israel dari Mizpa, mengejar orang Filistin itu dan memukul mereka kalah sampai hilir Bet-Kar. 7:12 Kemudian Samuel mengambil sebuah batu dan mendirikannya antara Mizpa dan Yesana; ia menamainya Eben-Haezer, katanya: "Sampai di sini TUHAN menolong kita." 7:13 Demikianlah orang Filistin itu ditundukkan dan tidak lagi memasuki daerah Israel. Tangan TUHAN melawan orang Filistin seumur hidup Samuel, 7:14 dan kota-kota yang diambil orang Filistin dari pada Israel, kembali pula kepada Israel, mulai dari Ekron sampai Gat; dan orang Israel merebut daerah sekitarnya dari tangan orang Filistin. Antara orang Israel dan orang Amori ada damai. Samuel sebagai hakim 7:15 Samuel memerintah sebagai hakim atas orang Israel seumur hidupnya. 7:16 Dari tahun ke tahun ia berkeliling ke Betel, Gilgal dan Mizpa, dan memerintah atas orang Israel di segala tempat itu, 7:17 lalu ia kembali ke Rama, sebab di sanalah rumahnya dan di sanalah ia memerintah atas orang Israel; dan di sana ia mendirikan mezbah bagi TUHAN.

7:1 Then the men of Kirjath Jearim came and took the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.
7:2 So it was that the ark remained in Kirjath Jearim a long time; it was there twenty years. And all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.
7:3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, [then] put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."
7:4 So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the LORD only.
7:5 And Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you."
7:6 So they gathered together at Mizpah, drew water, and poured [it] out before the LORD. And they fasted that day, and said there, "We have sinned against the LORD." And Samuel judged the children of Israel at Mizpah.
7:7 Now when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel had gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard [of it], they were afraid of the Philistines.
7:8 So the children of Israel said to Samuel, "Do not cease to cry out to the LORD our God for us, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines."
7:9 And Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered [it as] a whole burnt offering to the LORD. Then Samuel cried out to the LORD for Israel, and the LORD answered him.
7:10 Now as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the LORD thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day, and so confused them that they were overcome before Israel.
7:11 And the men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and drove them back as far as below Beth Car.
7:12 Then Samuel took a stone and set [it] up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far the LORD has helped us."
7:13 So the Philistines were subdued, and they did not come anymore into the territory of Israel. And the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
7:14 Then the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath; and Israel recovered its territory from the hands of the Philistines. Also there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.
7:15 And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.
7:16 He went from year to year on a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah, and judged Israel in all those places.
7:17 But he always returned to Ramah, for his home [was] there. There he judged Israel, and there he built an altar to the LORD.
