Pembaharuan yang dilakukan Yosia 23:1 Sesudah itu raja menyuruh orang mengumpulkan semua tua-tua Yehuda dan Yerusalem. 23:2 Kemudian pergilah raja ke rumah TUHAN dan bersama-sama dia semua orang Yehuda dan semua penduduk Yerusalem, para imam, para nabi dan seluruh orang awam, dari yang kecil sampai yang besar. Dengan didengar mereka ia membacakan segala perkataan dari kitab perjanjian yang ditemukan di rumah TUHAN itu. 23:3 Sesudah itu berdirilah raja dekat tiang dan diadakannyalah perjanjian di hadapan TUHAN untuk hidup dengan mengikuti TUHAN, dan tetap menuruti perintah-perintah-Nya, peraturan-peraturan-Nya dan ketetapan-ketetapan-Nya dengan segenap hati dan dengan segenap jiwa dan untuk menepati perkataan perjanjian yang tertulis dalam kitab itu. Dan seluruh rakyat turut mendukung perjanjian itu. 23:4 Raja memberi perintah kepada imam besar Hilkia dan kepada para imam tingkat dua dan kepada para penjaga pintu untuk mengeluarkan dari bait TUHAN segala perkakas yang telah dibuat untuk Baal dan Asyera dan untuk segala tentara langit, lalu dibakarnyalah semuanya itu di luar kota Yerusalem di padang-padang Kidron, dan diangkutnyalah abunya ke Betel. 23:5 Ia memberhentikan para imam dewa asing yang telah diangkat oleh raja-raja Yehuda untuk membakar korban di bukit pengorbanan di kota-kota Yehuda dan di sekitar Yerusalem, juga orang-orang yang membakar korban untuk Baal, untuk dewa matahari, untuk dewa bulan, untuk rasi-rasi bintang dan untuk segenap tentara langit. 23:6 Dibawanyalah tiang-tiang berhala dari rumah TUHAN ke luar kota Yerusalem, ke sungai Kidron, lalu dibakarnya di situ dan ditumbuknya halus-halus menjadi abu, kemudian dicampakkannyalah abunya ke atas kuburan rakyat jelata. 23:7 Ia merobohkan petak-petak pelacuran bakti yang ada di rumah TUHAN, tempat orang-orang perempuan bertenun sarung untuk Asyera. 23:8 Disuruhnyalah datang semua imam dari kota-kota Yehuda, lalu ia menajiskan bukit-bukit pengorbanan, tempat para imam itu membakar korban, dari Geba sampai Bersyeba; dirobohkannya pula bukit-bukit pengorbanan di pintu-pintu gerbang yang ada dekat lobang pintu gerbang Yosua, penguasa kota itu, yang ada pada sebelah kiri kalau orang memasuki pintu gerbang kota itu. 23:9 Tetapi para imam bukit-bukit pengorbanan itu tidak boleh naik ke mezbah TUHAN di Yerusalem, hanya mereka boleh memakan roti yang tidak beragi di tengah-tengah saudara-saudara mereka. 23:10 Ia menajiskan juga Tofet yang ada di lembah Ben-Hinom, supaya jangan orang mempersembahkan anak-anaknya sebagai korban dalam api untuk dewa Molokh. 23:11 Dibuangnyalah kuda-kuda yang ditaruh oleh raja-raja Yehuda untuk dewa matahari di pintu masuk ke rumah TUHAN, dekat bilik Natan-Melekh, pegawai istana, yang tinggal di gedung samping; juga kereta-kereta dewa matahari dibakarnya dengan api. 23:12 Mezbah-mezbah, yang ada di atas sotoh, tempat peranginan Ahas, yang dibuat oleh raja-raja Yehuda, dan mezbah-mezbah, yang dibuat Manasye di kedua pelataran rumah TUHAN, dirobohkan oleh raja, dan diremukkan di sana, lalu dicampakkannya abunya ke sungai Kidron. 23:13 Bukit-bukit pengorbanan yang ada di sebelah timur Yerusalem di sebelah selatan bukit Kebusukan dan yang didirikan oleh Salomo, raja Israel, untuk Asytoret, dewa kejijikan sembahan orang Sidon, dan untuk Kamos, dewa kejijikan sembahan Moab, dan untuk Milkom, dewa kekejian sembahan orang Amon, dinajiskan oleh raja. 23:14 Ia memecahkan tugu-tugu berhala dan menebang tiang-tiang berhala, lalu ditimbuninya tempat-tempat itu penuh dengan tulang-tulang manusia. 23:15 Juga mezbah yang ada di Betel, bukit pengorbanan yang dibuat oleh Yerobeam bin Nebat yang mengakibatkan orang Israel berdosa, mezbah dan bukit pengorbanan itupun dirobohkannya dan batu-batunya dipecahkannya, lalu ditumbuknya halus-halus menjadi abu, dan dibakarnyalah tiang berhala. 23:16 Dan ketika Yosia berpaling, dilihatnyalah kuburan-kuburan yang ada di gunung di sana, lalu menyuruh orang mengambil tulang-tulang dari kuburan-kuburan itu, membakarnya di atas mezbah dan menajiskannya, sesuai dengan firman TUHAN yang telah diserukan oleh abdi Allah yang telah menyerukan hal-hal ini. 23:17 Ia berkata: "Apakah tanda keramat yang kulihat ini?" Lalu orang-orang di kota itu menjawab dia: "Itulah kuburan abdi Allah yang sudah datang dari Yehuda dan yang telah menyerukan segala hal yang telah kaulakukan terhadap mezbah Betel ini!" 23:18 Lalu katanya: "Biarkanlah itu, janganlah ada orang yang menjamah tulang-tulangnya!" Jadi mereka tidak mengganggu tulang-tulangnya dan tulang-tulang nabi yang telah datang dari Samaria itu. 23:19 Juga segala kuil di bukit-bukit pengorbanan yang di kota-kota Samaria yang dibuat oleh raja-raja Israel untuk menimbulkan sakit hati TUHAN, dijauhkan oleh Yosia dan dalam hal ini ia bertindak tepat seperti tindakannya di Betel. 23:20 Ia menyembelih di atas mezbah-mezbah itu semua imam bukit-bukit pengorbanan yang ada di sana dan dibakarnya tulang-tulang manusia di atasnya, lalu pulanglah ia ke Yerusalem. 23:21 Kemudian raja memberi perintah kepada seluruh bangsa itu: "Rayakanlah Paskah bagi TUHAN, Allahmu, seperti yang tertulis dalam kitab perjanjian ini!" 23:22 Sebab tidak pernah lagi dirayakan Paskah seperti itu sejak zaman para hakim yang memerintah atas Israel dan sepanjang zaman raja-raja Israel dan raja-raja Yehuda. 23:23 Tetapi barulah dalam tahun kedelapan belas zaman raja Yosia Paskah ini dirayakan bagi TUHAN di Yerusalem. 23:24 Para pemanggil arwah, dan para pemanggil roh peramal, juga terafim, berhala-berhala dan segala dewa kejijikan yang terlihat di tanah Yehuda dan di Yerusalem, dihapuskan oleh Yosia dengan maksud menepati perkataan Taurat yang tertulis dalam kitab yang telah didapati oleh imam Hilkia di rumah TUHAN. 23:25 Sebelum dia tidak ada raja seperti dia yang berbalik kepada TUHAN dengan segenap hatinya, dengan segenap jiwanya dan dengan segenap kekuatannya, sesuai dengan segala Taurat Musa; dan sesudah dia tidak ada bangkit lagi yang seperti dia. 23:26 Tetapi TUHAN tidak beralih dari murka-Nya yang sangat bernyala-nyala itu yang telah bangkit terhadap Yehuda oleh karena segala sakit hati-Nya yang ditimbulkan Manasye. 23:27 Lalu berfirmanlah TUHAN: "Juga orang Yehuda akan Kujauhkan dari hadapan-Ku seperti Aku menjauhkan orang Israel, dan Aku akan membuang kota yang Kupilih ini, yakni Yerusalem, dan rumah ini, walaupun Aku telah berfirman tentangnya: Nama-Ku akan tinggal di sana!" 23:28 Selebihnya dari riwayat Yosia dan segala yang dilakukannya, bukankah semuanya itu tertulis dalam kitab sejarah raja-raja Yehuda? 23:29 Dalam zamannya itu majulah Firaun Nekho, raja Mesir, melawan raja Asyur di tepi sungai Efrat; raja Yosia pergi menghadapi dia; tetapi Firaun membunuhnya di Megido, segera sesudah ia melihatnya. 23:30 Pegawai-pegawainya mengangkut mayatnya dengan kereta dari Megido dan membawanya ke Yerusalem, kemudian mereka menguburkannya dalam kuburnya sendiri. Maka rakyat negeri itu menjemput Yoahas, anak Yosia, mengurapi dia dan mengangkat dia menjadi raja menggantikan ayahnya. Yoahas, raja Yehuda 23:31 Yoahas berumur dua puluh tiga tahun pada waktu ia menjadi raja dan tiga bulan lamanya ia memerintah di Yerusalem. Nama ibunya ialah Hamutal binti Yeremia, dari Libna. 23:32 Ia melakukan apa yang jahat di mata TUHAN tepat seperti yang dilakukan oleh nenek moyangnya. 23:33 Firaun Nekho mengurung dia di Ribla, di tanah Hamat, supaya jangan ia memerintah di Yerusalem; lagi Firaun membebankan kepada negeri itu denda sebesar seratus talenta perak dan sepuluh talenta emas. 23:34 Firaun Nekho mengangkat Elyakim, anak Yosia, menjadi raja menggantikan Yosia, ayahnya, dan menukar namanya dengan Yoyakim. Tetapi Yoahas dibawanya; Yoahas tiba di Mesir dan mati di sana. 23:35 Yoyakim memberi emas dan perak itu kepada Firaun, tetapi ia menarik pajak dari negeri supaya dapat memberi uang itu, sesuai dengan titah Firaun. Ia menagih emas dan perak itu dari rakyat negeri, dari setiap orang menurut jumlah ketetapan pajaknya, untuk memberikannya kepada Firaun Nekho. Yoyakim, raja Yehuda 23:36 Yoyakim berumur dua puluh lima tahun pada waktu ia menjadi raja dan sebelas tahun lamanya ia memerintah di Yerusalem. 23:1 Now the king sent them to gather all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem to him. 23:2 The king went up to the house of the LORD with all the men of Judah, and with him all the inhabitants of Jerusalemthe priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant which had been found in the house of the LORD. 23:3 Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all [his] heart and all [his] soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant. 23:4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring out of the temple of the LORD all the articles that were made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel. 23:5 Then he removed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places all around Jerusalem, and those who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven. 23:6 And he brought out the wooden image from the house of the LORD, to the Brook Kidron outside Jerusalem, burned it at the Brook Kidron and ground [it] to ashes, and threw its ashes on the graves of the common people. 23:7 Then he tore down the [ritual] booths of the perverted persons that [were] in the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the wooden image. 23:8 And he brought all the priests from the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba; also he broke down the high places at the gates which [were] at the entrance of the Gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which [were] to the left of the city gate. 23:9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places did not come up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they ate unleavened bread among their brethren. 23:10 And he defiled Topheth, which [is] in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire to Molech. 23:11 Then he removed the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun, at the entrance to the house of the LORD, by the chamber of NathanMelech, the officer who [was] in the court; and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire. 23:12 The altars that [were] on the roof, the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, the king broke down and pulverized there, and threw their dust into the Brook Kidron. 23:13 Then the king defiled the high places that [were] east of Jerusalem, which [were] on the south of the Mount of Corruption, which Solomon king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the people of Ammon. 23:14 And he broke in pieces the [sacred] pillars and cut down the wooden images, and filled their places with the bones of men. 23:15 Moreover the altar that [was] at Bethel, [and] the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place [and] crushed [it] to powder, and burned the wooden image. 23:16 As Josiah turned, he saw the tombs that [were] there on the mountain. And he sent and took the bones out of the tombs and burned [them] on the altar, and defiled it according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words. 23:17 Then he said, "What gravestone [is] this that I see?" So the men of the city told him, "[It is] the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things which you have done against the altar of Bethel." 23:18 And he said, "Let him alone; let no one move his bones." So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came from Samaria. 23:19 Now Josiah also took away all the shrines of the high places that [were] in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger; and he did to them according to all the deeds he had done in Bethel. 23:20 He executed all the priests of the high places who [were] there, on the altars, and burned men's bones on them; and he returned to Jerusalem. 23:21 Then the king commanded all the people, saying, "Keep the Passover to the LORD your God, as [it is] written in this Book of the Covenant." 23:22 Such a Passover surely had never been held since the days of the judges who judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel and the kings of Judah. 23:23 But in the eighteenth year of King Josiah this Passover was held before the LORD in Jerusalem. 23:24 Moreover Josiah put away those who consulted mediums and spiritists, the household gods and idols, all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD. 23:25 Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did [any] arise like him. 23:26 Nevertheless the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath, with which His anger was aroused against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him. 23:27 And the LORD said, "I will also remove Judah from My sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, `My name shall be there.'" 23:28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 23:29 In his days Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt went to the aid of the king of Assyria, to the River Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him. And [Pharaoh Necho] killed him at Megiddo when he confronted him. 23:30 Then his servants moved his body in a chariot from Megiddo, brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, anointed him, and made him king in his father's place. 23:31 Jehoahaz [was] twentythree years old when he became king, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name [was] Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 23:32 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done. 23:33 Now Pharaoh Necho put him in prison at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and he imposed on the land a tribute of one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold. 23:34 Then Pharaoh Necho made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And [Pharaoh] took Jehoahaz and went to Egypt, and he died there. 23:35 So Jehoiakim gave the silver and gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give money according to the command of Pharaoh; he exacted the silver and gold from the people of the land, from every one according to his assessment, to give [it] to Pharaoh Necho. 23:36 Jehoiakim [was] twentyfive years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name [was] Zebudah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. 23:37 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
