Tabut dipindahkan dari Kiryat-Yearim 13:1 Daud berunding dengan pemimpin-pemimpin pasukan seribu dan pasukan seratus dan dengan semua pemuka. 13:2 Berkatalah Daud kepada seluruh jemaah Israel: "Jika kamu anggap baik dan jika diperkenankan TUHAN, Allah kita, baiklah kita menyuruh orang kepada saudara-saudara kita yang masih tinggal di daerah-daerah orang Israel, dan di samping itu kepada para imam dan orang-orang Lewi yang ada di kota-kota yang dikelilingi tanah penggembalaan mereka, supaya mereka berkumpul kepada kita. 13:3 Dan baiklah kita memindahkan tabut Allah kita ke tempat kita, sebab pada zaman Saul kita tidak mengindahkannya." 13:4 Maka seluruh jemaah itu berkata, bahwa mereka akan berbuat demikian, sebab usul itu dianggap baik oleh segenap bangsa itu. 13:5 Lalu Daud mengumpulkan semua orang Israel dari sungai Sikhor di Mesir sampai ke jalan yang menuju Hamat, untuk menjemput tabut Allah dari Kiryat-Yearim. 13:6 Lalu Daud dan segenap orang Israel berangkat ke Baala, ke Kiryat-Yearim, yang termasuk wilayah Yehuda, untuk mengangkut dari sana tabut Allah, yang disebut dengan nama TUHAN yang bertakhta di atas kerubim. 13:7 Mereka menaikkan tabut Allah itu ke dalam kereta yang baru dari rumah Abinadab, sedang Uza dan Ahyo mengantarkan kereta itu. 13:8 Daud dan seluruh orang Israel menari-nari di hadapan Allah dengan sekuat tenaga, diiringi nyanyian, kecapi, gambus, rebana, ceracap dan nafiri. 13:9 Ketika mereka sampai ke tempat pengirikan Kidon, maka Uza mengulurkan tangannya memegang tabut itu, karena lembu-lembu itu tergelincir. 13:10 Maka bangkitlah murka TUHAN terhadap Uza, lalu Ia membunuh dia oleh karena Uza telah mengulurkan tangannya kepada tabut itu; ia mati di sana di hadapan Allah. 13:11 Daud menjadi marah, karena TUHAN telah menyambar Uza demikian hebatnya; maka tempat itu disebut orang Peres-Uza sampai sekarang. 13:12 Pada waktu itu Daud menjadi takut kepada Allah, lalu katanya: "Bagaimanakah aku dapat membawa tabut Allah itu ke tempatku?" 13:13 Sebab itu Daud tidak mau memindahkan tabut itu ke tempatnya, ke kota Daud, tetapi Daud menyimpang dan membawanya ke rumah Obed-Edom, orang Gat itu. 13:14 Tiga bulan lamanya tabut Allah itu tinggal pada keluarga Obed-Edom di rumahnya dan TUHAN memberkati keluarga Obed-Edom dan segala yang dipunyainya.

13:1 Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, [and] with every leader.
13:2 And David said to all the assembly of Israel, "If [it seems] good to you, and if it is of the LORD our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere [who are] left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites [who are] in their cities [and] their commonlands, that they may gather together to us;
13:3 "and let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of Saul."
13:4 Then all the assembly said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
13:5 So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor in Egypt to as far as the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath Jearim.
13:6 And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, to Kirjath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who dwells [between] the cherubim, where [His] name is proclaimed.
13:7 So they carried the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.
13:8 Then David and all Israel played [music] before God with all [their] might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets.
13:9 And when they came to Chidon's threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled.
13:10 Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God.
13:11 And David became angry because of the LORD'S outbreak against Uzza; therefore that place is called Perez Uzza to this day.
13:12 David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How can I bring the ark of God to me?"
13:13 So David would not move the ark with him into the City of David, but took it aside into the house of ObedEdom the Gittite.
13:14 The ark of God remained with the family of ObedEdom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of ObedEdom and all that he had.
