2 Tawarikh 23

23:1 Tetapi dalam tahun ketujuh Yoyada memberanikan diri dan ia mengadakan persepakatan dengan para kepala pasukan seratus, yakni: Azarya bin Yeroham, Ismael bin Yohanan, Azarya bin Obed. Maaseya bin Adaya, dan Elisafat bin Zikhri. 23:2 Mereka mengelilingi Yehuda dan mengumpulkan orang-orang Lewi dari semua kota di Yehuda serta kepala-kepala puak orang Israel, dan mereka semua datang ke Yerusalem. 23:3 Lalu seluruh jemaah itu mengikat perjanjian dengan raja di rumah Allah. Kata Yoyada kepada mereka: "Lihatlah, anak raja! Biarlah ia memerintah, seperti yang telah difirmankan TUHAN tentang anak-anak Daud! 23:4 Inilah yang harus kamu lakukan: sepertiga dari kamu, yakni yang selesai bertugas pada hari Sabat, baik imam maupun orang Lewi, haruslah menjadi penunggu pintu, 23:5 sepertiga lagi haruslah berada di istana raja, dan sepertiga pula di pintu gerbang Dasar, sedang seluruh rakyat haruslah berada di pelataran rumah TUHAN. 23:6 Siapapun tidak boleh memasuki rumah TUHAN selain dari pada para imam dan orang-orang Lewi yang bertugas. Mereka boleh masuk, karena mereka kudus, tetapi seluruh rakyat haruslah mentaati peraturan TUHAN. 23:7 Dalam pada itu orang-orang Lewi haruslah mengelilingi raja dari segala penjuru, masing-masing dengan senjatanya di tangannya, dan siapa yang memasuki rumah itu haruslah dibunuh. Dan baiklah kamu menyertai raja setiap kali ia keluar atau masuk." 23:8 Orang-orang Lewi dan seluruh Yehuda melakukan tepat seperti yang diperintahkan imam Yoyada. Masing-masing mengambil orang-orangnya yang selesai bertugas pada hari Sabat bersama-sama dengan orang-orang yang masuk bertugas pada hari itu, karena imam Yoyada tidak membebaskan rombongan-rombongan itu. 23:9 Lalu imam Yoyada memberikan kepada para kepala pasukan seratus itu tombak-tombak, utar-utar dan perisai-perisai kepunyaan raja Daud yang ada di rumah Allah. 23:10 Ia menempatkan seluruh rakyat, masing-masing dengan lembing di tangannya, di lambung kanan sampai ke lambung kiri rumah itu, dengan mengelilingi mezbah dan rumah itu untuk melindungi raja. 23:11 Sesudah itu Yoyada dan anak-anaknya membawa anak raja itu ke luar, mengenakan jejamang kepadanya dan memberikan hukum Allah kepadanya. Mereka menobatkan dia menjadi raja serta mengurapinya, lalu berserulah rakyat: "Hiduplah raja!" 23:12 Ketika Atalya mendengar pekik rakyat yang berlari-lari menyambut raja dan memuji-muji dia, pergilah ia mendapatkan rakyat itu ke dalam rumah TUHAN. 23:13 Lalu dilihatnyalah raja berdiri dekat tiangnya pada jalan masuk, sedang para pemimpin dengan para pemegang nafiri ada dekat raja. Dan seluruh rakyat negeri bersukaria sambil meniup nafiri, sedang para penyanyi dengan alat-alat musik mereka, memimpin nyanyian puji-pujian. Maka Atalya mengoyakkan pakaiannya sambil berkata: "Khianat, khianat!" 23:14 Tetapi imam Yoyada menyuruh keluar para kepala pasukan seratus, yakni orang-orang yang mengepalai tentara, katanya kepada mereka: "Bawalah dia keluar dari antara barisan! Siapa yang memihak kepadanya harus dibunuh dengan pedang!" Sebab imam itu telah berkata tadinya: "Jangan kamu membunuhnya di rumah TUHAN!" 23:15 Lalu mereka menangkap perempuan itu. Pada waktu ia sampai ke jalan masuk istana raja pada pintu gerbang Kuda, dibunuhlah ia di situ. 23:16 Kemudian Yoyada mengikat perjanjian antara dia dengan segenap rakyat dan raja, bahwa mereka menjadi umat TUHAN. 23:17 Sesudah itu masuklah seluruh rakyat ke rumah Baal, lalu merobohkannya; mereka memecahkan mezbah-mezbahnya dan patung-patungnya dan membunuh Matan, imam Baal, di depan mezbah-mezbah itu. 23:18 Kemudian Yoyada menyerahkan pengawasan atas rumah TUHAN kepada imam-imam dan orang-orang Lewi, yang telah dibagi-bagi dalam rombongan oleh Daud untuk bertugas di dalam rumah TUHAN, yakni untuk mempersembahkan korban bakaran kepada TUHAN -- seperti tertulis di dalam Taurat Musa -- dengan sukaria dan dengan nyanyian menurut petunjuk Daud. 23:19 Juga ditempatkannya penunggu-penunggu pintu pada pintu-pintu gerbang rumah TUHAN, supaya dalam hal apapun juga jangan masuk seseorang yang najis. 23:20 Sesudah itu ia mengajak para kepala pasukan seratus, para pemuka, para pemerintah rakyat dan seluruh rakyat negeri, lalu membawa raja turun dari rumah TUHAN; mereka masuk ke istana raja melalui pintu gerbang Atas, lalu mendudukkan raja ke atas takhta kerajaan. 23:21 Bersukarialah seluruh rakyat negeri dan amanlah kota itu, setelah Atalya mati dibunuh dengan pedang.

23:1 In the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, [and made a] covenant with the captains of hundreds: Azariah the son of Jeroham, Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, Azariah the son of Obed, Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri.
23:2 And they went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, and the chief fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
23:3 Then all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said to them, "Behold, the king's son shall reign, as the LORD has said of the sons of David.
23:4 "This [is] what you shall do: Onethird of you entering on the Sabbath, of the priests and the Levites, [shall be] keeping watch over the doors;
23:5 "onethird [shall be] at the king's house; and onethird at the Gate of the Foundation. All the people [shall be] in the courts of the house of the LORD.
23:6 "But let no one come into the house of the LORD except the priests and those of the Levites who serve. They may go in, for they [are] holy; but all the people shall keep the watch of the LORD.
23:7 "And the Levites shall surround the king on all sides, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes into the house, let him be put to death. You are to be with the king when he comes in and when he goes out."
23:8 So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each man took his men who were to be on duty on the Sabbath, with those who were going [off duty] on the Sabbath; for Jehoiada the priest had not dismissed the divisions.
23:9 And Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears and the large and small shields which [had belonged] to King David, that [were] in the temple of God.
23:10 Then he set all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and by the temple, all around the king.
23:11 And they brought out the king's son, put the crown on him, [gave him] the Testimony, and made him king. Then Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, "[Long] live the king!"
23:12 Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people [in] the temple of the LORD.
23:13 When she looked, there was the king standing by his pillar at the entrance; and the leaders and the trumpeters [were] by the king. All the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, also the singers with musical instruments, and those who led in praise. So Athaliah tore her clothes and said, "Treason! Treason!"
23:14 And Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, "Take her outside under guard, and slay with the sword whoever follows her." For the priest had said, "Do not kill her in the house of the LORD."
23:15 So they seized her; and she went by way of the entrance of the Horse Gate [into] the king's house, and they killed her there.
23:16 Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, the people, and the king, that they should be the LORD'S people.
23:17 And all the people went to the temple of Baal, and tore it down. They broke in pieces its altars and images, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.
23:18 Also Jehoiada appointed the oversight of the house of the LORD to the hand of the priests, the Levites, whom David had assigned in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as [it is] written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, [as it was established] by David.
23:19 And he set the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the LORD, so that no one [who was] in any way unclean should enter.
23:20 Then he took the captains of hundreds, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought the king down from the house of the LORD; and they went through the Upper Gate to the king's house, and set the king on the throne of the kingdom.
23:21 So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet, for they had slain Athaliah with the sword.
