Zephaniah 1

1:1 Firman TUHAN yang datang kepada Zefanya bin Kusyi bin Gedalya bin Amarya bin Hizkia dalam zaman Yosia bin Amon, raja Yehuda. Penghukuman pada hari TUHAN
1:2 "Aku akan menyapu bersih segala-galanya dari atas muka bumi, demikianlah firman TUHAN.
1:3 Aku akan menyapu manusia dan hewan; Aku akan menyapu burung-burung di udara dan ikan-ikan di laut. Aku akan merebahkan orang-orang fasik dan akan melenyapkan manusia dari atas muka bumi, demikianlah firman TUHAN.
1:4 Aku akan mengacungkan tangan-Ku terhadap Yehuda dan terhadap segenap penduduk Yerusalem. Aku akan melenyapkan dari tempat ini sisa-sisa Baal dan nama para imam berhala,
1:5 juga mereka yang sujud menyembah di atas sotoh kepada tentara langit dan mereka yang menyembah dengan bersumpah setia kepada TUHAN, namun di samping itu bersumpah demi Dewa Milkom,
1:6 serta mereka yang berbalik dari pada TUHAN, yang tidak mencari TUHAN dan tidak menanyakan petunjuk-Nya."
1:7 Berdiam dirilah di hadapan Tuhan ALLAH! Sebab hari TUHAN sudah dekat. Sungguh TUHAN telah menyediakan perjamuan korban dan telah menguduskan para undangan-Nya.
1:8 "Pada hari perjamuan korban TUHAN itu Aku akan menghukum para pemuka, para anak-anak raja dan semua orang yang memakai pakaian asing.
1:9 Aku akan menghukum pada hari itu semua orang yang melompati ambang pintu dan memenuhi istana tuan mereka dengan kekerasan dan penipuan. 1:10 Maka pada hari itu, demikianlah firman TUHAN, akan terdengar teriakan dari Pintu Gerbang Ikan dan ratapan dari perkampungan baru dan bunyi keruntuhan hebat dari bukit-bukit.
1:11 Merataplah, hai penduduk perkampungan Lumpang! Sebab telah habis segenap kaum pedagang, telah lenyap segenap penimbang perak.
1:12 Pada waktu itu Aku akan menggeledah Yerusalem dengan memakai obor dan akan menghukum orang-orang yang telah mengental seperti anggur di atas endapannya dan yang berkata dalam hatinya: TUHAN tidak berbuat baik dan tidak berbuat jahat!
1:13 Maka harta kekayaannya akan dirampas dan rumah-rumahnya akan menjadi sunyi sepi. Apabila mereka mendirikan rumah, mereka tidak akan mendiaminya; apabila mereka membuat kebun anggur, mereka tidak akan minum anggurnya."
1:14 Sudah dekat hari TUHAN yang hebat itu, sudah dekat dan datang dengan cepat sekali! Dengar, hari TUHAN pahit, pahlawanpun akan menangis.
1:15 Hari kegemasan hari itu, hari kesusahan dan kesulitan, hari kemusnahan dan pemusnahan, hari kegelapan dan kesuraman, hari berawan dan kelam,
1:16 hari peniupan sangkakala dan pekik tempur terhadap kota-kota yang berkubu dan terhadap menara penjuru yang tinggi.
1:17 Aku akan menyusahkan manusia, sehingga mereka berjalan seperti orang buta, sebab mereka telah berdosa kepada TUHAN. Darah mereka akan tercurah seperti debu dan usus mereka seperti tahi.
1:18 Mereka tidak dapat diselamatkan oleh perak atau emas mereka pada hari kegemasan TUHAN, dan seluruh bumi akan dimakan habis oleh api cemburu-Nya; sebab kebinasaan, malah kebinasaan dahsyat diadakan-Nya terhadap segenap penduduk bumi.

1:1 The word of the LORD which came to Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.
1:2 "I will utterly consume everything From the face of the land," Says the LORD;
1:3 "I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, The fish of the sea, And the stumbling blocks along with the wicked. I will cut off man from the face of the land," Says the LORD.
1:4 "I will stretch out My hand against Judah, And against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off every trace of Baal from this place, The names of the idolatrous priests with the [pagan] priests
1:5 Those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops; Those who worship and swear [oaths] by the LORD, But who [also] swear by Milcom;
1:6 Those who have turned back from [following] the LORD, And have not sought the LORD, nor inquired of Him."
1:7 Be silent in the presence of the Lord GOD; For the day of the LORD [is] at hand, For the LORD has prepared a sacrifice; He has invited His guests.
1:8 "And it shall be, In the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, That I will punish the princes and the king's children, And all such as are clothed with foreign apparel.
1:9 In the same day I will punish All those who leap over the threshold, Who fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.
1:10 "And there shall be on that day," says the LORD, "The sound of a mournful cry from the Fish Gate, A wailing from the Second Quarter, And a loud crashing from the hills.
1:11 Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh! For all the merchant people are cut down; All those who handle money are cut off.
1:12 "And it shall come to pass at that time [That] I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And punish the men Who are settled in complacency, Who say in their heart, `The LORD will not do good, Nor will He do evil.'
1:13 Therefore their goods shall become booty, And their houses a desolation; They shall build houses, but not inhabit [them]; They shall plant vineyards, but not drink their wine."
1:14 The great day of the LORD [is] near; [It is] near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the LORD is bitter; There the mighty men shall cry out.
1:15 That day [is] a day of wrath, A day of trouble and distress, A day of devastation and desolation, A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness,
1:16 A day of trumpet and alarm Against the fortified cities And against the high towers.
1:17 "I will bring distress upon men, And they shall walk like blind men, Because they have sinned against the LORD; Their blood shall be poured out like dust, And their flesh like refuse."
1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold Shall be able to deliver them In the day of the LORD'S wrath; But the whole land shall be devoured By the fire of His jealousy, For He will make speedy riddance Of all those who dwell in the land.
