| 13:1 Anak yang bijak mendengarkan didikan ayahnya, tetapi seorang pencemooh tidak mendengarkan hardikan. 13:2 Dari buah mulutnya seseorang akan makan yang baik, tetapi nafsu seorang pengkhianat ialah melakukan kelaliman. 13:3 Siapa menjaga mulutnya, memelihara nyawanya, siapa yang lebar bibir, akan ditimpa kebinasaan. 13:4 Hati si pemalas penuh keinginan, tetapi sia-sia, sedangkan hati orang rajin diberi kelimpahan. 13:5 Orang benar benci kepada dusta, tetapi orang fasik memalukan dan memburukkan diri. 13:6 Kebenaran menjaga orang yang saleh jalannya, tetapi kefasikan mencelakakan orang berdosa. 13:7 Ada orang yang berlagak kaya, tetapi tidak mempunyai apa-apa, ada pula yang berpura-pura miskin, tetapi hartanya banyak. 13:8 Kekayaan adalah tebusan nyawa seseorang, tetapi orang miskin tidak akan mendengar ancaman. 13:9 Terang orang benar bercahaya gemilang, sedangkan pelita orang fasik padam. 13:10 Keangkuhan hanya menimbulkan pertengkaran, tetapi mereka yang mendengarkan nasihat mempunyai hikmat. 13:11 Harta yang cepat diperoleh akan berkurang, tetapi siapa mengumpulkan sedikit demi sedikit, menjadi kaya. 13:12 Harapan yang tertunda menyedihkan hati, tetapi keinginan yang terpenuhi adalah pohon kehidupan. 13:13 Siapa meremehkan firman, ia akan menanggung akibatnya, tetapi siapa taat kepada perintah, akan menerima balasan. 13:14 Ajaran orang bijak adalah sumber kehidupan, sehingga orang terhindar dari jerat-jerat maut. 13:15 Akal budi yang baik mendatangkan karunia, tetapi jalan pengkhianat-pengkhianat mencelakakan mereka. 13:16 Orang cerdik bertindak dengan pengetahuan, tetapi orang bebal membeberkan kebodohan. 13:17 Utusan orang fasik menjerumuskan orang ke dalam celaka, tetapi duta yang setia mendatangkan kesembuhan. 13:18 Kemiskinan dan cemooh menimpa orang yang mengabaikan didikan, tetapi siapa mengindahkan teguran, ia dihormati. 13:19 Keinginan yang terlaksana menyenangkan hati, menghindari kejahatan adalah kekejian bagi orang bebal. 13:20 Siapa bergaul dengan orang bijak menjadi bijak, tetapi siapa berteman dengan orang bebal menjadi malang. 13:21 Orang berdosa dikejar oleh malapetaka, tetapi Ia membalas orang benar dengan kebahagiaan. 13:22 Orang baik meninggalkan warisan bagi anak cucunya, tetapi kekayaan orang berdosa disimpan bagi orang benar. 13:23 Huma orang miskin menghasilkan banyak makanan, tetapi ada yang lenyap karena tidak ada keadilan. 13:24 Siapa tidak menggunakan tongkat, benci kepada anaknya; tetapi siapa mengasihi anaknya, menghajar dia pada waktunya. 13:25 Orang benar makan sekenyang-kenyangnya, tetapi perut orang fasik menderita kekurangan. | 13:1 A wise son [heeds] his father's instruction, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. 13:2 A man shall eat well by the fruit of [his] mouth, But the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence. 13:3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life, [But] he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. 13:4 The soul of a lazy [man] desires, and [has] nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. 13:5 A righteous [man] hates lying, But a wicked [man] is loathsome and comes to shame. 13:6 Righteousness guards [him whose] way is blameless, But wickedness overthrows the sinner. 13:7 There is one who makes himself rich, yet [has] nothing; [And] one who makes himself poor, yet [has] great riches. 13:8 The ransom of a man's life [is] his riches, But the poor does not hear rebuke. 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoices, But the lamp of the wicked will be put out. 13:10 By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the welladvised [is] wisdom. 13:11 Wealth [gained by] dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase. 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But [when] the desire comes, [it is] a tree of life. 13:13 He who despises the word will be destroyed, But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded. 13:14 The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, To turn [one] away from the snares of death. 13:15 Good understanding gains favor, But the way of the unfaithful [is] hard. 13:16 Every prudent [man] acts with knowledge, But a fool lays open [his] folly. 13:17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble, But a faithful ambassador [brings] health. 13:18 Poverty and shame [will come] to him who disdains correction, But he who regards a rebuke will be honored. 13:19 A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, But [it is] an abomination to fools to depart from evil. 13:20 He who walks with wise [men] will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. 13:21 Evil pursues sinners, But to the righteous, good shall be repaid. 13:22 A good [man] leaves an inheritance to his children's children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous. 13:23 Much food [is in] the fallow [ground] of the poor, And for lack of justice there is waste. 13:24 He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly. 13:25 The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul, But the stomach of the wicked shall be in want. |
