Yeremia mau dibunuh, karena menubuatkan kemusnahan Bait Suci Nabi Uria dihukum mati 26:1 Pada permulaan pemerintahan Yoyakim, anak Yosia raja Yehuda, datanglah firman ini dari TUHAN, bunyinya: 26:2 Beginilah firman TUHAN: "Berdirilah di pelataran rumah TUHAN dan katakanlah kepada penduduk segala kota Yehuda, yang datang untuk sujud di rumah TUHAN, segala firman yang Kuperintahkan untuk kaukatakan kepada mereka. Janganlah kaukurangi sepatah katapun! 26:3 Mungkin mereka mau mendengarkan dan masing-masing mau berbalik dari tingkah langkahnya yang jahat, sehingga Aku menyesal akan malapetaka yang Kurancangkan itu terhadap mereka oleh karena perbuatan-perbuatan mereka yang jahat. 26:4 Jadi katakanlah kepada mereka: Beginilah firman TUHAN: Jika kamu tidak mau mendengarkan Aku, tidak mau mengikuti Taurat-Ku yang telah Kubentangkan di hadapanmu, 26:5 dan tidak mau mendengarkan perkataan hamba-hamba-Ku, para nabi, yang terus-menerus Kuutus kepadamu, -- tetapi kamu tidak mau mendengarkan -- 26:6 maka Aku akan membuat rumah ini sama seperti Silo, dan kota ini menjadi kutuk bagi segala bangsa di bumi." 26:7 Para imam, para nabi dan seluruh rakyat mendengar Yeremia mengucapkan perkataan-perkataan itu dalam rumah TUHAN. 26:8 Lalu sesudah Yeremia selesai mengatakan segala apa yang diperintahkan TUHAN untuk dikatakan kepada seluruh rakyat itu, maka para imam, para nabi dan seluruh rakyat itu menangkap dia serta berkata: "Engkau harus mati! 26:9 Mengapa engkau bernubuat demi nama TUHAN dengan berkata: Rumah ini akan sama seperti Silo, dan kota ini akan menjadi reruntuhan, sehingga tidak ada lagi penduduknya?" Dan seluruh rakyat berkumpul mengerumuni Yeremia di rumah TUHAN. 26:10 Ketika para pemuka Yehuda mendengar tentang hal ini, pergilah mereka dari istana raja ke rumah TUHAN, lalu duduk di pintu gerbang baru di rumah TUHAN. 26:11 Kemudian berkatalah para imam dan para nabi itu kepada para pemuka dan kepada seluruh rakyat itu, katanya: "Orang ini patut mendapat hukuman mati, sebab ia telah bernubuat tentang kota ini, seperti yang kamu dengar dengan telingamu sendiri." 26:12 Tetapi Yeremia berkata kepada segala pemuka dan kepada seluruh rakyat itu, katanya: "Tuhanlah yang telah mengutus aku supaya bernubuat tentang rumah dan kota ini untuk menyampaikan segala perkataan yang telah kamu dengar itu. 26:13 Oleh sebab itu, perbaikilah tingkah langkahmu dan perbuatanmu, dan dengarkanlah suara TUHAN, Allahmu, sehingga TUHAN menyesal akan malapetaka yang diancamkan-Nya atas kamu. 26:14 Tetapi aku ini, sesungguhnya, aku ada di tanganmu, perbuatlah kepadaku apa yang baik dan benar di matamu. 26:15 Hanya ketahuilah sungguh-sungguh, bahwa jika kamu membunuh aku, maka kamu mendatangkan darah orang yang tak bersalah atas kamu dan atas kota ini dan penduduknya, sebab TUHAN benar-benar mengutus aku kepadamu untuk menyampaikan segala perkataan ini kepadamu." 26:16 Lalu berkatalah para pemuka dan seluruh rakyat itu kepada imam-imam dan nabi-nabi itu: "Orang ini tidak patut mendapat hukuman mati, sebab ia telah berbicara kepada kita demi nama TUHAN, Allah kita." 26:17 Memang beberapa orang dari para tua-tua negeri itu tampil juga ke depan dan berkata kepada kumpulan rakyat itu, katanya: 26:18 "Mikha, orang Moresyet itu, telah bernubuat di zaman Hizkia, raja Yehuda. Dia telah berkata kepada segenap bangsa Yehuda: Beginilah firman TUHAN semesta alam: Sion akan dibajak seperti ladang dan Yerusalem akan menjadi timbunan puing dan gunung Bait Suci akan menjadi bukit yang berhutan. 26:19 Apakah Hizkia, raja Yehuda, beserta segenap Yehuda membunuh dia? Tidakkah ia takut akan TUHAN, sehingga ia memohon belas kasihan TUHAN, agar TUHAN menyesal akan malapetaka yang diancamkan-Nya atas mereka? Dan kita, maukah kita mendatangkan malapetaka yang begitu besar atas diri kita sendiri?" 26:20 Ada juga seorang lain yang bernubuat demi nama TUHAN, yaitu Uria bin Semaya, dari Kiryat-Yearim. Dia bernubuat tentang kota dan negeri ini tepat seperti yang dikatakan Yeremia. 26:21 Ketika raja Yoyakim, bersama-sama dengan segenap perwiranya dan semua pemuka, mendengar perkataan orang itu, maka rajapun mencari ikhtiar untuk membunuhnya. Mendengar hal itu maka takutlah Uria, lalu melarikan diri dan tiba di Mesir. 26:22 Kemudian raja Yoyakim menyuruh orang ke Mesir, yaitu Elnatan bin Akhbor beserta beberapa orang. 26:23 Mereka mengambil Uria dari Mesir dan membawanya kepada raja Yoyakim. Raja menyuruh membunuh dia dengan pedang dan melemparkan mayatnya ke kuburan rakyat biasa. 26:24 Tetapi Yeremia dilindungi oleh Ahikam bin Safan, sehingga ia tidak diserahkan ke dalam tangan rakyat untuk dibunuh.

26:1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came from the LORD, saying,
26:2 "Thus says the LORD: `Stand in the court of the LORD'S house, and speak to all the cities of Judah, which come to worship [in] the LORD'S house, all the words that I command you to speak to them. Do not diminish a word.
26:3 `Perhaps everyone will listen and turn from his evil way, that I may relent concerning the calamity which I purpose to bring on them because of the evil of their doings.'
26:4 "And you shall say to them, `Thus says the LORD: "If you will not listen to Me, to walk in My law which I have set before you,
26:5 "to heed the words of My servants the prophets whom I sent to you, both rising up early and sending [them] (but you have not heeded),
26:6 "then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth."'"
26:7 So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.
26:8 Now it happened, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded [him] to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying, "You will surely die!
26:9 "Why have you prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, `This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without an inhabitant'?"And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.
26:10 When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king's house to the house of the LORD and sat down in the entry of the New Gate of the LORD'S [house].
26:11 And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and all the people, saying, "This man deserves to die! For he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears."
26:12 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and all the people, saying: "The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city with all the words that you have heard.
26:13 "Now therefore, amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; then the LORD will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you.
26:14 "As for me, here I am, in your hand; do with me as seems good and proper to you.
26:15 "But know for certain that if you put me to death, you will surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, on this city, and on its inhabitants; for truly the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing."
26:16 So the princes and all the people said to the priests and the prophets, "This man does not deserve to die. For he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God."
26:17 Then certain of the elders of the land rose up and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying:
26:18 "Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, `Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Zion shall be plowed [like] a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple Like the bare hills of the forest."'
26:19 "Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah ever put him to death? Did he not fear the LORD and seek the LORD'S favor? And the LORD relented concerning the doom which He had pronounced against them. But we are doing great evil against ourselves."
26:20 Now there was also a man who prophesied in the name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath Jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.
26:21 And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Urijah heard [it], he was afraid and fled, and went to Egypt.
26:22 Then Jehoiakim the king sent men to Egypt: Elnathan the son of Achbor, and [other] men [who went] with him to Egypt.
26:23 And they brought Urijah from Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.
26:24 Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
