Yosia merayakan Paskah 35:1 Kemudian Yosia merayakan Paskah bagi TUHAN di Yerusalem. Domba Paskah disembelih pada tanggal empat belas bulan yang pertama. 35:2 Ia menetapkan tugas para imam, dan mendorong mereka menunaikan tugas jabatannya dalam rumah TUHAN. 35:3 Berkatalah ia kepada orang-orang Lewi yang adalah pengajar seluruh Israel dan orang-orang kudus TUHAN: "Tempatkanlah tabut kudus itu di dalam rumah yang telah didirikan Salomo bin Daud, raja Israel. Tidak usah lagi kamu mengusungnya. Sekarang layanilah TUHAN, Allahmu, dan Israel, umat-Nya! 35:4 Bersiaplah menurut puak-puakmu dan menurut rombonganmu sebagaimana yang dituliskan Daud, raja Israel, dan Salomo, anaknya. 35:5 Berdirilah di halaman tempat kudus menurut golongan puak saudara-saudaramu yang lain, yakni kaum awam, dengan satu rombongan puak orang Lewi untuk tiap golongan saudara-saudaramu itu. 35:6 Sembelihlah domba Paskah, kuduskanlah dirimu, dan adakanlah persiapan bagi saudara-saudaramu, supaya dilakukan apa yang difirmankan TUHAN dengan perantaraan Musa." 35:7 Yosia menyumbangkan kepada kaum awam sejumlah tiga puluh ribu ekor kambing domba, yakni domba-domba dan kambing-kambing jantan yang muda, semuanya sebagai korban Paskah bagi semua orang yang hadir. Selain itu disumbangkannya tiga ribu ekor lembu. Semuanya itu dari harta milik raja. 35:8 Juga para panglimanya memberi sumbangan sukarela kepada rakyat, para imam, dan orang-orang Lewi. Kemudian Hilkia, Zakharia dan Yehiel, para pemuka rumah Allah, memberi kepada para imam dua ribu enam ratus ekor kambing domba sebagai korban Paskah dan selain itu tiga ratus ekor lembu. 35:9 Lalu Konanya dan kedua saudaranya, Semaya dan Netaneel, serta Hasabya, Yeiel dan Yozabad, para pemimpin orang-orang Lewi, menyumbangkan kepada orang-orang Lewi lima ribu ekor kambing domba sebagai korban Paskah dan selain itu lima ratus ekor lembu. 35:10 Setelah upacara ibadah disiapkan, berdirilah para imam pada tempatnya dan orang-orang Lewi menurut rombongannya sesuai dengan perintah raja. 35:11 Maka disembelihlah domba Paskah, dan para imam menyiramkan darah yang mereka terima dari orang-orang Lewi, sedang orang-orang Lewi menguliti domba itu. 35:12 Tetapi mereka memisahkan korban bakaran untuk diserahkan kepada kaum awam menurut golongan puak mereka, supaya dipersembahkan kepada TUHAN sebagaimana tertulis dalam kitab Musa. Demikian pula dilakukan mereka dengan lembu-lembu. 35:13 Kemudian mereka memasak domba Paskah di atas api sesuai dengan peraturan, sedang persembahan-persembahan kudus mereka masak dalam kuali, belanga dan pinggan, lalu membawanya cepat-cepat kepada segenap kaum awam. 35:14 Kemudian mereka menyediakannya bagi dirinya dan bagi para imam, karena para imam, yakni anak-anak Harun, sampai malam hari sibuk mempersembahkan korban bakaran dan segala lemak. Oleh sebab itu orang-orang Lewi menyediakannya bagi dirinya dan bagi para imam, yakni anak-anak Harun. 35:15 Para penyanyi, yakni bani Asaf, ada pada tempat mereka sesuai dengan perintah Daud, Asaf, Heman dan Yedutun, pelihat raja itu; juga para penunggu pintu gerbang ada pada tiap-tiap pintu gerbang. Mereka tidak usah meninggalkan tugas mereka, karena saudara-saudara mereka, orang-orang Lewi, menyediakannya untuk mereka. 35:16 Demikianlah seluruh upacara ibadah bagi TUHAN disiapkan pada hari itu untuk merayakan Paskah dan untuk mempersembahkan korban bakaran di atas mezbah TUHAN sesuai dengan perintah raja Yosia. 35:17 Pada waktu itu orang Israel yang hadir di situ merayakan Paskah dan hari raya Roti Tidak Beragi selama tujuh hari. 35:18 Paskah semacam itu tidak pernah lagi dirayakan di Israel sejak nabi Samuel. Seorangpun di antara raja-raja orang Israel tidak pernah merayakan Paskah seperti yang dirayakan Yosia dengan para imam dan orang-orang Lewi, dengan seluruh orang Yehuda dan Israel yang dapat hadir, dan dengan penduduk Yerusalem. 35:19 Paskah itu dirayakan pada tahun kedelapan belas pemerintahan Yosia. Yosia dibunuh oleh Nekho 35:20 Kemudian dari pada semua ini, setelah Yosia memperbaiki rumah TUHAN, majulah Nekho, raja Mesir, hendak berperang di Karkemis di tepi sungai Efrat. Yosia keluar menghadapinya. 35:21 Ia mengirim utusan kepada Yosia, dengan pesan: "Apakah urusanmu dengan aku, raja Yehuda? Saat ini aku tidak datang melawan engkau, tetapi melawan keluarga raja yang sedang kuperangi. Allah memerintahkan aku supaya segera bertindak. Hentikanlah niatmu menentang Allah yang menyertai aku, supaya engkau jangan dimusnahkan-Nya!" 35:22 Tetapi Yosia tidak berpaling dari padanya, melainkan menyamar untuk berperang melawan dia. Ia tidak mengindahkan kata-kata Nekho, yang merupakan pesan Allah, lalu berperang di lembah Megido. 35:23 Maka pemanah-pemanah menembaki raja Yosia, dan raja berseru kepada orang-orangnya: "Bawa aku dari sini, karena aku luka parah!" 35:24 Orang-orangnya mengangkatnya dari keretanya, lalu mengangkutnya dengan kereta cadangannya lalu membawanya ke Yerusalem. Kemudian matilah ia, lalu dikuburkan di pekuburan nenek moyangnya. Seluruh Yehuda dan Yerusalem berkabung karena Yosia. 35:25 Yeremia membuat suatu syair ratapan mengenai Yosia. Dan sampai sekarang ini semua penyanyi laki-laki dan penyanyi perempuan menyanyikan syair-syair ratapan mengenai Yosia, dan mereka jadikan itu suatu kebiasaan di Israel. Semuanya itu tertulis dalam Syair-syair Ratapan. 35:26 Selebihnya dari riwayat Yosia dan perbuatan-perbuatannya yang saleh yang sesuai dengan yang ada tertulis dalam Taurat TUHAN, 35:27 yakni, riwayatnya dari awal sampai akhir, sesungguhnya semuanya itu tertulis dalam kitab raja-raja Israel dan Yehuda.

35:1 Now Josiah kept a Passover to the LORD in Jerusalem, and they slaughtered the Passover [lambs] on the fourteenth [day] of the first month.
35:2 And he set the priests in their duties and encouraged them for the service of the house of the LORD.
35:3 Then he said to the Levites who taught all Israel, who were holy to the LORD: "Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, built. [It shall] no longer [be] a burden on [your] shoulders. Now serve the LORD your God and His people Israel.
35:4 "Prepare [yourselves] according to your fathers' houses, according to your divisions, following the written instruction of David king of Israel and the written instruction of Solomon his son.
35:5 "And stand in the holy [place] according to the divisions of the fathers' houses of your brethren the [lay] people, and [according to] the division of the father's house of the Levites.
35:6 "So slaughter the Passover [offerings], consecrate yourselves, and prepare [them] for your brethren, that [they] may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses."
35:7 Then Josiah gave the [lay] people lambs and young goats from the flock, all for Passover [offerings] for all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, as well as three thousand cattle; these [were] from the king's possessions.
35:8 And his leaders gave willingly to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the Passover [offerings] two thousand six hundred [from the flock], and three hundred cattle.
35:9 Also Conaniah, his brothers Shemaiah and Nethanel, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave to the Levites for Passover [offerings] five thousand [from the flock] and five hundred cattle.
35:10 So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their places, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the king's command.
35:11 And they slaughtered the Passover [offerings]; and the priests sprinkled [the blood] with their hands, while the Levites skinned [the animals].
35:12 Then they removed the burnt offerings that [they] might give them to the divisions of the fathers' houses of the [lay] people, to offer to the LORD, as [it is] written in the Book of Moses. And so [they did] with the cattle.
35:13 Also they roasted the Passover [offerings] with fire according to the ordinance; but the [other] holy [offerings] they boiled in pots, in caldrons, and in pans, and divided [them] quickly among all the [lay] people.
35:14 Then afterward they prepared portions for themselves and for the priests, because the priests, the sons of Aaron, [were busy] in offering burnt offerings and fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared portions for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron.
35:15 And the singers, the sons of Asaph, [were] in their places, according to the command of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer. Also the gatekeepers were at each gate; they did not have to leave their position, because their brethren the Levites prepared portions for them.
35:16 So all the service of the LORD was prepared the same day, to keep the Passover and to offer burnt offerings on the altar of the LORD, according to the command of King Josiah.
35:17 And the children of Israel who were present kept the Passover at that time, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days.
35:18 There had been no Passover kept in Israel like that since the days of Samuel the prophet; and none of the kings of Israel had kept such a Passover as Josiah kept, with the priests and the Levites, all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
35:19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah this Passover was kept.
35:20 After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him.
35:21 But he sent messengers to him, saying, "What have I to do with you, king of Judah? [I have] not [come] against you this day, but against the house with which I have war; for God commanded me to make haste. Refrain [from meddling with] God, who [is] with me, lest He destroy you."
35:22 Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself so that he might fight with him, and did not heed the words of Necho from the mouth of God. So he came to fight in the Valley of Megiddo.
35:23 And the archers shot King Josiah; and the king said to his servants, "Take me away, for I am severely wounded."
35:24 His servants therefore took him out of that chariot and put him in the second chariot that he had, and they brought him to Jerusalem. So he died, and was buried in [one of] the tombs of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.
35:25 Jeremiah also lamented for Josiah. And to this day all the singing men and the singing women speak of Josiah in their lamentations. They made it a custom in Israel; and indeed they [are] written in the Laments.
35:26 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and his goodness, according to [what was] written in the Law of the LORD,
35:27 and his deeds from first to last, indeed they [are] written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
